The founding delegates of CEMRA, all of them owners of successful electrical sales agencies from all parts of the country, came together at their organization meeting in January of 1981 with little but an idea and a dream.
Their purpose in meeting? To form a national trade association dedicated to the premise that concerted action among concerned independent sales agents everywhere insures group participation benefits for those companies involved in the programs of the new association. In addition, it offered tremendous opportunities to illustrate the maturity and inherent strength of an organized group whose individual companies – as individuals – had been too often taken for granted.
In 1997, CEMRA moved its offices in with Electro-Federation Canada. It is an official member of the Electrical Council of the Federation where it holds a permanent position on the National Council. At the same time it also formalized its relationship with NEMRA. CEMRA members become members of both associations while maintaining their association’s independence.
CEMRA advocates to the electrical industry, to the manufacturers you represent, to the customers you serve:
- That your company performs a unique function in your local trading area; one that cannot be duplicated by either and must be recognized by both.
- That you are a competent businessman, a credit to your profession.
- That you care for your business and are planning systematically for its perpetuation and growth.
- That the agency system of distribution is the most efficient, most economical means available to the electrical manufacturer to take his product to market.
