Electrical Council Committees and Structure

National Steering Committee – NSC

The National Steering Committee is responsible for the overall running of the Electric Council. It is made up of representatives from the manufacturers, the distributors and the reps. Chairs of all three sections, EPAC, and the regions sit on the National Steering Committee. All ad-hoc committees helped to develop the Council’s current three-year plan and particular members also reside on the Steering Committee.

Executive

The Executive are within the Steering Committee and include a Chair, Past Chair, two Pro-chairs (former Chairs), two Vice Chairs as well as those Chairs who oversee the three sections (EEMAC, DAC, CEMRA – see below for details). Apart from setting the budget, this group is responsible for membership recruitment and networking.

Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Advisory Committee – EEMAC

This committee represents all product sections. The Chairs of all sections and the EPAC Chair are part of this group. In addition, key industry members reside on this committee to represent the commercial aspect for the manufacturer.

Electrical Policy Advisory Committee – EPAC

This Committee is made up of members from the various product sections. Its mandate is to monitor industry-related technical products, codes and standards, government relations and policy.

Distributor Advisory Committee – DAC

This Committee represents the electrical distributor’s point of view. The Committee is made up of a representative from every national or semi-national distributor member – Westburne, Wesco, Sonepar, Nedco, Graybar, four independent distributors and the two major buying groups who are non-voting.

Canadian Electrical Manufacturers’ Representative Association’s Board of Directors – CEMRA

This group represents rep businesses across Canada. The Board is made up of one rep from all regions, a member who sits on the National Steering Committee and a member who sits on the National Electrical Manufacturers’ Representative Association (NEMRA) in the U.S.A.
