Chair’s Message
2011 was another busy and productive year in Atlantic Canada. We enjoyed a high level of interest and involvement from our members including record attendance at our golf tournament and Christmas reception. Through these and other business & social events we had the privilege of giving back with scholarships in conjunction with Maritime Community Colleges and also very worthy causes such as the IWK Children’s Hospital and other Food Bank programs. We are looking forward to 2012 and the many activities planned, including our MEET Show in May. Finally, as another year comes to a close and we spend time with family & friends, please take time to reflect on things that are truly important.
On behalf of the executive and all of us in the Atlantic region… Happy Holidays!
Best regards
Richard Urquhart, CET, CPMR
2011 Atlantic Region Christmas Reception
“Celebrating the Holiday Season in the Atlantic Region. On December 6th, members came together for the regional Christmas Celebration at Old Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax. This season’s event was the best attended holiday reception in the region to date with nearly 90 members taking part. Many members from outside the region were there to join in the festivities. Members contributed gifts to be used for a silent action. With Christmas shopping on their minds, members had a little friendly competition bidding on the items! In the end, $2,200 was raised for Feed Nova Scotia. Many thanks to everyone who attended and for making this event an enjoyable and successful event. Seasons Greetings!”

Lobster Fest Boat Cruise
What a beautiful evening it was to cruise St. Margaret’s Bay! For the first time in days, the sun glistened on the water and warmed members as they returned from the boat. The Atlantic Region hosted it’s infamous Lobster Fest on June 16, 2011. The evening started with a boat cruise along the Bay and the landlubbers enjoyed the view from the deck at Shining Waters. After the boat docked, the Chef cooked up a batch of the most delectable lobsters on the deck. Members and their guests were treated to an amazing dinner. Thank you to all who ventured out to participate in this regional event and watch for it again in June 2012.
