Session Summary:

This session will focus on Arc Flash, a growing, life-threatening and preventable electrical health and safety issue. Attend this session to hear from Bill Giffen, an arc flash survivor who beat the odds and is alive to tell us his near-death experience with arc flash. You will also hear from Dr. Mary Capelli-Schellpfeffer, MD, MPA, one of North America’s leading experts in the field of uncontrolled, unintentional energy release during operation, maintenance and construction work. Since founding CapSchell, Inc. in 1999, Dr. Capelli-Schellpfeffer has continued electrical safety research and education activities through consulting; multi-year projects on electric ‘arc injury parameters’ and prevention; and research collaborations.

Mary has also chaired the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E Future Directions Task Group, exploring emerging opportunities for the advancement of electrical safety and has authored numerous scientific reports, book chapters, and articles addressing electrical incident mitigation and health effects.

Come enjoy an excellent speaker, on an important, timely topic, at the best steakhouse luncheon in town!
