The Installation, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) Sector Council and Trade Association is a national, independent, not-for-profit organization directed by industry stakeholders in the installation, maintenance and repair service industries.
The IMR Sector Council merged with the service Trade Association (formerly CEASA) in 2007. IMR is one of 29 sector councils that were established with federal startup funding to bring employers, industry, workers, educators and governments together to address human resource challenges facing the Canadian economy. Through its role as a facilitator, IMR’s mission is “to educate, engage and
empower the sector to collectively address the human resource needs of the installation, maintenance and repair labour market”.
IMR has worked to:
identify labour market trends and supply-demand needs;
develop a sectoral approach to LMI issues;
establish and maintain partnerships both within and outside the sector;
adapt national occupational standards and skills profiles to reflect changing technological environment;
harmonize occupation training across the country and contribute to sectoral curriculum development;
promote and provide information on career opportunities within the sector or related sectors;
facilitate recruitment and career opportunities;
research HR innovative tools for direct use by small-medium enterprises; and
develop marketing and communications activities.
