Students Selected from 700 Entrants – An Increase of 75% From Last Year!
Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) and its member companies and affiliates are pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 EFC Scholarship Program. The EFC Foundation Scholarship Program was established in 1995 to encourage Canadian students to pursue a career in the electrical, electronics, and telecommunications industries. EFC has, to date, invested close to $450,000 in the post-secondary technical training and education of Canadian students.
“We are pleased that together with EFC’s member companies, we can help these outstanding young students continue studies in their chosen fields," said Ken Frankum, Chair, Electro-Federation Canada.
For this academic year, the Foundation received over 700 applications from students throughout various universities across the country. Eligible students must meet the guidelines specific to each scholarship. The selection criteria include academic performance, areas of study, leadership and career interests. The applications are then reviewed by an impartial committee who decides candidates.
This year, over $52,000 has been awarded to post-secondary students who are looking to pursue a career in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Business Administration, or as an Electrical Technologist, Certified Electrical Technologist and/or Electrical Technician (see below for recipients’ names). In addition, members showed their on-going commitment to the industry by raising $35,000 from the 8th Annual EFC Federation Cup Charity Golf Tournament, held this past August.
The EFC Foundation Scholarship Program is proudly offered in partnership with participating members, the Alberta Electrical League, British Columbia Electrical Association, Manitoba Electrical League, Ontario Electrical League, Canadian Imaging Trade Association, and the Radio Advisory Board of Canada. Choisis parmi 700 postulants – Une augmentation de 75% comparativement à l'an passé
