Building for the Future I am sure you will agree that 2012 will prove to be a challenging year for many Canadian businesses. Members are bracing themselves for tough economic times and striving to find ways to improve their productivity and competiveness.
It is important for Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) to help you and your organization compete in our highly interconnected and rapidly changing global economy. EFC and its four Councils will accelerate the momentum established in 2011 and will continue in 2012 to provide valuable services that will help you build and adapt your organization for the future. In a challenging economic environment, we must, constantly look for ways to improve your bottom line – giving you more reasons to validate your membership and support the the cost of your dues.
In 2012, we are implementing a strategic plan that will focus on the following key initiatives:
- Grow EFC revenue and maintain healthy financials (we can’t support members unless we have a strong foundation ourselves)
- Deliver member marketing & communications with on-line focus
- Improve government relations
- Enhance statistic/research services
- Conduct a member satisfaction survey
- Grow the the EFC Scholarship Foundation Program
- Build alliances with other key associations
- Support the implementation of the IDEA (Industry Data Exchange Association) Canadian Business Plan
I believe as an Association, we have come a long way over the past year – together, we have greatly strengthened the hub resources and consolidated EEMAC and S&D into the new Electrical Council. This success is due to the exceptional efforts of the hard working volunteer members who devote their valuable time to Board and Committee work at both the EFC and council levels. These dedicated member volunteers are in turn supported by the talented EFC staff team.
On behalf of the EFC team, I thank you for your continued support in 2012. I would also like to recognize the leadership and support of our Chair Jean Belhumeur, whose superb leadership has guided us through an outstanding year.
It is true that 2012 will prove to be challenging, but with supportive members and an energized and capable EFC staff – I say bring it on! I also look forward to continuing to connect with our members throughout the year. We are building for the future as EFC has the momentum to continue to make an impact in the Canadian electrical, electronics, telecommunications and appliance sectors..
