EFC Seeks Member Input on Potential Tariff Impacts

EFC is assessing the potential impact of the Section 338 tariffs scheduled to take effect on August 19, 2026.

Information has been sent to the official representatives of EFC’s manufacturer members, including a survey from Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME). CME will provide EFC with aggregated data based on responses submitted by EFC members.

Although EFC has identified organizations that may be affected, we want to ensure that no members are overlooked. If your organization would be affected by tariffs on any of the HTSUS codes included in the Section 338 action, please email csinasac@electrofed.com and provide:

  • The applicable HTSUS code or codes;
  • A brief description of the anticipated impact on your organization; and
  • The name and contact information of the individual who should participate in EFC’s discussions on behalf of your organization.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Commerce has proposed expanding Section 232 tariffs to include certain electric conductor cables. If implemented, these products would generally be subject to a 25% tariff.

EFC will provide affected member organizations with information about existing Government of Canada support programs and ask members to assess whether those programs adequately address their needs. EFC will then convene affected members to identify additional support requirements and develop advocacy positions that reflect member priorities.
