CIGRE Canada NGN Award for Energy Excellence

CIGRE is a global, collaborative community dedicated to advancing the development and sharing of expertise in electric power systems to support the evolving needs of the energy sector worldwide. CIGRE Canada serves as the national committee, bringing together members from coast to coast and supporting knowledge exchange through 16 Study Committees, the Women in Energy (WiE) group, and the Next Generation Network (NGN).
CIGRE Canada is pleased to offer 3 scholarships of $3,500 each to students pursuing a post-secondary degree, who are studying or conducting research in a field related to the energy sector. Preference will be given to applicants who are also targeting a career in the energy sector.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program at the undergraduate or graduate level. [Eligibility restricted to students from the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon and Northwest Territories].
Conference Attendance
Successful applicants must be able and willing to attend the CIGRE Canada Conference & Exhibition at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta on September 22nd, 2026, where the scholarship will be formally awarded. CIGRE Canada will provide complimentary conference registration and a one-night hotel stay.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
• A current CV
• An academic transcript
• Proof of an active CIGRE student membership (CIGRE membership number)
• A one-page letter outlining past experiences and future ambitions in the energy sector
• Confirmation of availability to attend the CIGRE Canada Conference in Calgary, Alberta
