  • Maureen Farrow, President, Economap Inc. will discuss “The Question is Not Whether the Global Economy is Slowing Down But Whether a Full Blown Recession/Stagflation Can Be Avoided”

    Maureen will discuss:
With economic conditions deteriorating around the world it is necessary to assess the pace of the slowdown and whether Stagflation or a Full Blown Recession can be avoided. At the centre of the slowdown is the necessity to contain the inflation bubble, which requires higher interest rates. The months ahead pose a number of headwinds for businesses to navigate; inflation, labour shortages/cost, rising interest rates, supply chain disruptions, and a broad deterioration in global security and economic cooperation. These challenges will be discussed globally but with an emphasis on the United States, Canada, Europe, and China.

  • Alex Carrick, Chief Economist, ConstructConnect, will highlight economic and construction outlooks for the U.S. and Canada while sharing cyclincal elements on labour and rising interest rates.

    Alex will discuss:
Alex Carrick will highlight economic and construction outlooks for the U.S. and Canada, emphasizing the latter a good deal more. Cyclical elements, such as material and labour shortages and rising interest rates, may hold back onsite activity in the short term. But there are also important factors at play, especially efforts at decarbonization, that point to increasing demand for certain raw materials and alterations in industrial production processes that will require massive amounts of capital spending. These will be the mega-sized projects that return to boost construction throughout much of this decade. It’s generally conceded that achieving a cleaner environment will draw on the strength of electric power generation, transmission, and storage.

Join your industry colleagues for this informative event and learn about current economic trends impacting the Global and Canadian market as well as macroeconomic forecasts and construction outlooks for the U.S. and Canada.
