Finance Canada Seeks Input on Domestic Supply Availability for Tariff Relief Requests
Finance Canada is consulting Canadian manufacturers and industry associations to determine whether a range of steel, aluminum, fastener, HVAC, and other industrial products can be sourced domestically. The results will be used in assessing tariff remission requests on imported products. Companies capable of manufacturing any of the listed products are encouraged to participate, as identification of domestic supply may affect future tariff-relief decisions.
The current consultation includes products in categories such as:
- Electrical steel used in transformer cores
- Steel coils, bars, rods and specialty alloys
- Fasteners
- HVAC products
- Aluminum products
- Lighting
- And other component parts
Please check the HS codes to see if your organization is impacted.
To support this process, the Department of Finance Canada has launched an online consultation where we are seeking your input on whether you produce the products requested for tariff relief.
You can view the consultation notice and the list of products for consultation here: Domestic Supply Consultations – Canada.ca
Please identify if your company can produce any of the listed items by completing the form in the linked web page by June 21, 2026 at 11:59pm PDT.
If you identify your ability to produce a listed good, the business requesting relief from tariffs will be directed to contact you to assess that you can meet their purchasing needs.
