The Electrical Industry’s Got Talent Show (EIGT) was a Huge Hit!

To cap off yesterday’s Industry Awards event, EFC hosted Electrical Industry’s Got Talent Show (EIGT).

EIGT included six performances by members from ABB, Franklin Empire, Leviton, Westburne and Mersen who serenaded attendees on the virtual stage. An honourable mention was given to Yves Martin of Lumen, a talented Quebec member who was unable to attend the event but played a big part in bringing this show to life. Watch Martin’s one-man band music video here.

Thank you to the following performers!

Reg Arthurs

The evening kicked off with Reg Arthurs from ABB, Product Specifications, who performed his original song, “Country Song.” Originally from New Brunswick, he’s called Ontario home for over 15 years. He’s the founding member and principal songwriter for the alternative-country band, Corduroy Road, who were shortlisted for a Juno nomination back in 2008 for their debut CD, “Not From The City”. He is newly engaged to be married.

Sonic Curators

Hot off the heels of an amazing performance, EFC member and guitarist, Kian Sanjari from Mersen performed “Eruption & Ain’t talkin’ ‘bout Love” by Van Halen with his SONIC CURATORS bandmates, Kevin Rajpaulsingh (on drums & back-up vocals), James Dixon (bass guitarist) and Frank Pagnotta (lead vocalist). SONIC CURATORS is an alternative rock band covering hits from the past three decades as well as writing and producing original music. They had every intention to perform live in studio, but unfortunately due to COVID-19, their studio is on lockdown and they’ve been keeping their distance. Thankfully, they did have a chance to record their song during rehearsals in studio for event attendees to watch that evening. View more of their performances on their YouTube page here.

Almost Famous

For the third act, the Almost Famous band with EFC member, Richard Do of Westburne, and his bandmates, Steve Gillard, Richard Begley and Paul Chalmers, performed “Little Bones” by the Tragically Hip. Again, this band had every intention of performing live in studio but due to the current pandemic, could not meet up in person to perform. Formed back in early 2014, Almost Famous is a collection of guys who love to play and perform rock songs from some of their favorite artists like The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, The Tragically Hip, The Beatles and ZZ Top. Their mission is to bring fun, energy, and excitement to every live musical performance. Whether that be at a future in-person or virtual event, they will play at your request. Learn more about Almost Famous on their website here.

Tristan Pawluch

Halfway through the evening, EFC member, Tristan Pawluch from Franklin Empire, switched things up by showcasing an ability that wasn’t a musical talent. Pawluch has more than fifteen years of experience implementing, troubleshooting, piloting, and retrofitting solutions for Power Generation, Controls & Automation and Position Feedback applications across North America. But that evening he joined the virtual stage, not as Tristan the industrial account manager, but as The Maestro of Magic.

Ronald Brisebois

The fifth act was from EFC member, Ronald Brisebois of Leviton who is a singer-songwriter. He is known for covering songs from the sixties to today’s latest hits. He also creates his own music. Brisebois performed “Seniorita” by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello. Visit Ronald’s YouTube channel here.

Lionel Santos

The sixth and final act of the evening was performed by EFC Ontario region member, Lionel Santos from Franklin Empire. Santos sings a cappella and has performed most of his life on the live stage at musical theatres. Always supported by his wife, Cheryl, three children and four grandchildren, a big virtual applause was given to Lionel Santos as he performed “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks. Listen to some of Lionel’s work here.

The evening concluded with a live poll in which members chose three winners.

Congratulations to:

  1. Almost Famous, in first place
  2. SONIC CURATORS, in second place
  3. They were all so good, the audience couldn’t decide! Congratulations to Reg Arthurs, Tristan Pawluch, Ronald Brisebois and Lionel Santos who all tied for third place.
