It’s very important and service technicians are probably in short supply in your community! This means an opportunity for career seekers with any of these areas of interest.
Appliance Service Technicians (AST) and Electronic Service Technicians (EST) work with all the latest technology to solve mechanical problems every day. Most installation maintenance and repair service is for a wide range of appliances and electronic products and is conducted by independent technicians, many of whom are owners of service shops. Most have service contract relationships with manufacturers, retailers and/or warranty companies. According to the Compensation Recruitment and Retention survey conducted in 2005 by the IMR Sector Council, 93% of Electronics Service Technicians were very satisfied with their jobs and were attracted to the interesting and challenging work of solving technical problems. Competitive wages are an attractive benefit as well!

Electronic service technicians service and repair household and business electronic equipment such as audio and video systems, computers and peripherals, office equipment and other consumer electronic equipment and assemblies. They are employed by electronic service and retail establishments, by wholesale distributors and within service departments of electronic manufacturing companies.
